This striking Glass Butte Fire Obsidian cabochon displays vivid layered flashes of gold, magenta, violet, and green fire created by microscopic magnetite platelets within the volcanic glass. These rare internal layers produce a holographic flame-like effect that shifts as the stone moves under light.


Fire Obsidian is found almost exclusively in Glass Butte, Oregon, making quality cabbing material increasingly scarce and highly sought after by collectors and lapidary artists.


This piece shows excellent directional fire with stacked color banding and strong contrast against a deep black body tone—ideal for a custom ring, pendant, or high-end collection specimen.
