Available here is a beautiful 4+ pound curated lot of Red Banded Arizona Agatized Petrified Wood rough, selected for visible preserved grain structure, strong iron-rich coloration, and classic Southwestern limb-wood patterning.

Hand-selected Southwestern petrified wood from a private collection. Pieces were chosen specifically for lapidary potential, color contrast, and preserved fossil structure rather than bulk landscape-grade rough.

A strong working lot for cutters or collectors seeking authentic Arizona agatized limb wood material.

This material shows excellent internal fiber replacement with natural chalcedony banding and jasperized zones throughout multiple pieces. Several chunks in this lot are especially promising slab candidates, while others are ideal for cabbing, display, or specimen cutting.

Quality red banded petrified wood with intact grain like this continues to become harder to source from older collections.

You will receive the exact material shown.

Stone Type

Agatized Petrified Wood (Silicified Fossil Wood)

Color

Deep Desert Red with Natural Cream Limb-Wood Banding

Weight

Approx. 4+ pounds total rough

Condition

Natural rough – uncut and unpolished

Origin

Arizona, USA

Lapidary Grade

This lot contains:

• Slab-worthy grain wood sections

• Ribboned limb wood fragments

• Cabochon-grade dense chalcedony zones

• Collector-grade fossil wood structure

A well-balanced mix for cutters looking for both yield and character.

Formation Notes

Over millions of years, the original wood structure was replaced by silica-rich groundwater, preserving cellular detail while introducing iron oxide minerals responsible for the deep red coloration seen here.

This replacement process creates material that cuts cleanly and polishes exceptionally well.

Why This Lot Stands Out

Strong preserved wood grain

Classic Arizona desert coloration

Limb-wood striping visible in multiple pieces

Excellent cab and slab potential

From older Southwestern rough supply

Increasingly difficult material to source in mixed cutting lots
